Field demonstration of the conventional steam drive process with ancillary materials. Quarterly report, October-December 1980

Purpose of this field test is to demonstrate an improved oil recovery process through the use of ancillary materials to steam drive injectors. The ancillary materials are used to reduce injection in steam channels and thus force the injected steam to enter alternate flow paths. During the first two months of this quarter up to 190 incremental barrels of oil per day are being produced by the four patterns receiving ancillary materials. Preliminary work began on the evaluation of the producing temperatures, steam injection profiles, chemical tracer surveys, casing vent gas emissions and residual oil saturations in the six observation wells drilled.
