Analysis of hydraulically fractured wells with pressure buildup tests

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6302366

Procedures are presented for interpreting pressure buildup tests of fractured reservoirs. Both horizontal and vertical fracture orientations are considered and the procedures are intended to be used for evaluating well fracture treatments. Fractures of finite conductivity are studied. A computerized reservoir model is described which can be used to determine fracture length and fracture conductivity. Assumptions involved in developing the model include: no permeability anisotropies, uniform porosity and thickness, and the presence of a single-phase fluid of constant compressibility and viscosity. Also discussed are the effects of fractures on conventional well tests and the transient behavior of fractured wells.
