Title: Influence of certain factors on the catalytic activity of skeletal nickel (in Russian)

Journal Article · · J. Appl. Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6301106

Skeletal (Raney-type) nickel is an active catalyst of hydrogen ionization. At the same time, it is liable to chemisorption of impurities, which may cause poisoning of the catalyst. The authors have determined the influence of the following factors on ionization of hydrogen in presence of skeletal nickel catalyst: a) substances generally present as electrode components in fuel cells; b) substances which may be present in the electrolyte of an operating fuel cell (potassium carbonate, hydrogen peroxide). The method of polarization of a hydrogen half-cell of the suspension type was used for the investigations.
