Charged and neutral current neutrino interactions and their hadronization

We present a comparison of neutrino induced charged and neutral current interaction rates and hadronization in the FNAL 15' bubble chamber. The exposure of 26,200 pictures contained 2748 events produced by a horn-focused wide band neutrino beam in a 21% atomic mixture of neon in hydrogen. Because we used a new method of bremstrahlung identification, we were able to calculate a reliable ..pi../sup 0/ multiplicity and z distribution. Charged current (CC) events were identified by detecting the muon in the one-plane EMI. Neutral current (NC) events were identified by requiring the highest p/sub t/ negative track ineract. An independent NC selection method gave consistent results. The ratio of NC to CC rates, corrected to an isoscalar target, is .30 +- .03. The Z/sub vis/ distribution of h/sup +/, h/sup -/ and ..pi../sup 0/ are presented for NC and CC. In the range .2 = 5.12 +- .16(5.31 +- .26) and <..pi../sup 0/> = 1.91 +- .21 (1.58 +- .16) for CC(NC). The neutral strange particle multiplicities were measured to be = .21 +- .03 (.30 +- .80) and <..lambda../sup 0/> = .08 +- .01 (.06 +- .02) for CC (NC).
