Gradual change in the chemisorbed NO species on. alpha. -FeOOH

The change in NO chemisorbed species on {alpha}-FeOOH with adsorption time was investigated with in-situ FT-IR spectroscopy. IR absorption bands due to the nitrito species appeared within 30 min after introduction of NO and hardly changed after that. However, the bands assigned to the chelating bidentate nitrato species grew with the adsorption time still 24 h, although the weight increase due to the NO adsorption almost finishes within 5 h. These facts indicate the gradual change of chemisorbed NO species on {alpha}-FeOOH surface.
