Vector analyzing powers of /sup 1/H(d,. gamma. ) and /sup 2/H(p,. gamma. ) reactions at E/sub x/ = 6 MeV

The vector analyzing powers have been measured for the /sup 1/H(d,..gamma..) /sup 3/He and the /sup 2/H(p,..gamma..) /sup 3/He reactions at E/sub x/ = 6 MeV. The results indicate the presence of channel spin (3/2) capture strength. An M1 strength amounting to between 1 and 8% of the cross section is able to explain the observations if a significant s = (3/2) component is included.
