Sources of indoor air pollution are identified. Suspended dust particles and gases from coal furnaces, gas stoves, and cars driven into a garage are indoor air pollutants. Pollution released from cigarette smoke is examined: mainstream and sidestream smoke; nicotine; and carbon monoxide. Carcinogenic agents active in the act of inhaling cigarette smoke and found in atmospheric pollution are discussed. (1 photo)
