Title: Performance of coal-gasification-reheat combustion-turbine power cycles using dry cooling. Final report. [Texaco oxygen-blown gasifier and British Gas Corporation slagging gasifier]

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6293889

A study was conducted to explore the near-term performance potential of coal-gasification combined cycles that use reheat combustion turbines and dry cooling. The major finding is that these cycles can have coal-to-bus-bar efficiencies close to 40% if the components are properly matched. The study assumes that reheat gas turbines with inlet temperatures of about 2370/sup 0/F could be developed. The addition of an ammonia cooling loop in the condenser system improved the efficiencies and reduced the cooling tower sizes. 30 figures, 55 tables.
