Indoor air quality in Weatherization-Program homes. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6293537
Through a cooperative program, the Energy Authority and the Department of State conducted two research projects to improve the Weatherization Assistance Program for low-income households. This project was initiated to determine the extent of indoor air concentrations of five pollutants--radon, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and respirable suspended particulates--from a sample of weatherized mobile homes and low-income houses. The researchers recommend that mobile and low-income homeowners need to vent combustion appliances properly to reduce nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide levels, and that non-smoking be encouraged to reduce levels of respirable suspended particulates.
