Some theoretical aspects of parallel parsing

Lately in connection with the advent of multiprocessor computer systems of various categories there has been growing interest in parallel translation methods. The application of such methods fosters a substantial decrease in the program compilation time. The author outlines a parallel parsing scheme which pertains to languages. The following problem arises, on the other hand, in connection with the grammar generating a language: is there an algorithm that will, from a given grammar, either construct a parser of the indicated type corresponding to the grammar or report that such a parser does not exist. To solve the state problem the author constructs a formal model of the parser. 7 references.
