Conference · · Ironmaking Proc., Metall. Soc. AIME; (United States)
OSTI ID:6292453
These proceedings contain complete texts of technical papers presented at the 42nd Ironmaking Conference, covering ironmaking, cokemaking, agglomeration and direct reduction technology. Sessions on the blast furnace feature discussion of the lower furnace process, raceway and modeling technology, cooling design, instrumentation and control, burden distribution and furnace refractories. Cokemaking sessions review current thinking in cokemaking research, the measure and attainment of improved coke quality, operation of the newer coke batteries, process design and control and environmental considerations. Sinter plant operation, control and burden raw materials and the impact of pellet quality on furnace operation are the topics of the agglomeration sessions. The direct reduction session details the operation of major direct reduction facilities and a projection of the future of direct reduction in North America.
