Compact sealed CO/sub 2/ periodic-pulse laser

For an actuation time of 20 nsec, the life of the laser with a CO/sub 2/:N/sub 2/:He = 1:1:3 working mixture at atmospheric pressure was 10/sup 6/ actuations without the use of gaseous or solid catalysts. The maximum radiation energy for an active-medium volume of 0.5 x 0.4 x 25 cm reached 54 mJ with a pulse repetition frequency of 100 Hz.
