Dynamic benefits are various operating cost savings that are associated with the fast response characteristics of a generation or storage technology. These benefits have not been adequately modeled in conventional production costing programs used in generation system planning. The most significant of these dynamic benefits can be classified under the following areas: operating and spinning reserve; unit commitment; load following; and frequency regulation. DYNASTORE is a computer model specially designed to study dynamic benefits of energy storage plants. This User Guide provides the instructions for using DYNASTORE. DYNASTORE is implemented on the IBM-compatible personal computers. It is easy to use and includes a user-friendly input processor and a post processor that can prepare graphs of the system operation. DYNASTORE has been tested on the system data of twelve host utilities.
