Surface segregation in barium titanate

We have investigated thermally-induced surface cation nonstoichiometry in undoped BaTiO{sub 3} using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Ti enrichment is found in oxidized BaTiO{sub 3}, while the reduced surface shows less Ti segregation. The effect of cooling rate on the cation segregation behaviour is also discussed.
