Feature article:The merits of using wood for heat and the advantages of utilizing wood-burning stoves are extolled. Wood as a fuel is cheap and clean, and wood-burning stoves are efficient and durable. Factors to be considered when purchasing such a stove are: baffle; secondary air system; downdraft; and airtightness. Cooking with wood as a fuel is examined. Several types of wood-burning stoves are briefly reviewed. (1 diagram, 2 photos)
