Technical and economic feasibility study of an HVDC compressed gas insulated transmission line. Final technical report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6280262
This report describes the concept whereby the two insulation systems (insulators and gas with particles) can be optimized independently. Methods have been developed to achieve and maintain cleanliness of the gas space and to exclude particle generation possibilities from the gas space. These have made possible a high and consistent dielectric strength of the insulating gas. A high working stress can be used and the gas space can be reduced in size to improve the economics of the HVDC CGI cable. (DLC)
