Gauge-invariant formulation of SU(2) gluodynamics

An internal structure like that of a double asymmetric rotator is found in the vector potential A/sub mua/ by means of the previously proposed polar representation. In the functional integral, there exists in the polar representation a natural choice of the gauge, in which there are no Faddeev-Popov ghosts or Gribov ambiguities. The classical equations in the polar representation are written solely in terms of gauge-invariant quantities. The instantons and magnetic monopoles in the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield limit and the magnetic field of the 't Hooft-Polyakov monopole are studied in the framework of the polar representation.
