Considering [ital B][sub [ital d]][sup 0]-[ital [bar B]] [sub [ital d]][sup 0] mixing in a potential model of independent quarks by taking the effective interaction Hamiltonian of the standard Salam-Weinberg-Glashow model and subsequently diagonalizing the corresponding mass matrix with respect to [ital B][sub [ital d]][sup 0] and [ital [bar B]][sub [ital d]][sup 0] states, we obtain an expression for the mass difference [Delta][ital M][sub [ital B][ital d]][sup 0] in terms of the [ital t]-quark mass [ital m][sub [ital t]]. Using the recent observation of the mixing parameter [ital x][sub [ital d]]=0.72[plus minus]0.15 by the ARGUS Collaboration, we predict the lower bound on the top-quark mass as [ital m][sub [ital t]][ge]149 GeV. Further, a consideration of experimental mass difference [Delta][ital M][sub [ital B][ital d]][sup 0]=(4.0[plus minus]0.8)[times]10[sup [minus]13] GeV also leads to [ital m][sub [ital t]]=167[sub [minus]17][sup +16] GeV which is in agreement with the recent experimental bound as well as other theoretical predictions. However, such a prediction of [ital m][sub [ital t]] that utilizes the experimental value of the CKM matrix element [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital t][ital d]][vert bar] may not appear convincing in view of the large uncertainties in the measurement of [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital t][ital d]][vert bar] so far reported. Therefore using the range of [ital m][sub [ital t]] values within its bounds predicted from other independent works, we make a reasonable estimation of [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital t][ital d]][vert bar].
