Title: EMS controls anodizing manufacturing process, cuts demand 33%

An energy management system that performs load shedding and optimum starts reduced the electricity used for anodizing processes at a Milwaukee plant by a third, and improved product quality at the same time. The system monitors demand at the meter, but there is a temperature setting to override each load being shed. The control system lowers peak loads by avoiding simultaneous heating in the separate tanks. The plant's electricity demand charges for the anodizing process have dropped about $600 per month. When new air handling controls and exhaust systems are included, the total savings are $1500 per month.
