Editor's Note: Due to the rapid development of economical construction and the rise of people's living standard year by year, a shortage of energy supply has arisen in China. In recent years, many important measures have been taken to conserve energy in heat treatment as reported in this article which is from a paper presented by the author at the 3rd International Congress on Heat Treatment of Materials in Shanghai, China, last November.
