This meeting was organized to examine the basis for obtaining good information about the energy supplies and consumption required for sound planning and effective action. The proceedings begin with a summary of the conclusions and recommendations of the meeting, and is followed by the reports of 4 working groups which examined rural, urban, industrial and transportation energy-survey methodologies and needs. This is followed by an annotated bibliography of 52 energy surveys for developing energy surveys, energy assessments and data-analysis systems. Excerpts of 12 background papers prepared for the workshop compose the major appendix. 25 references.
