Spectroscopic analysis of the AM Herculis binary E2003 + 225

Spectroscopy of the new AM Her-type X-ray binary E2003 + 225 with the 6-m telescope in July 1984 indicates that the equivalent widths of different emission lines vary differently with phase of the orbital period P. The line-profile peaks give radial-velocity curves distorted presumably by material streaming away from the white dwarf primary; the undistorted V; curves derived from the line bases are shifted 0.1P relative to the line-peak curves. The binary components have an unusually small mass ratio. The weakness and softness of the X-ray emission may be attributable to absorption in the ejected material. 5 references.
