Progress is reported in isotope separation, separation chemistry (Pu reproportionation, /sup 231/Pa and /sup 230/Th recovery from Cotter concentrate, /sup 234/U recovery from aged /sup 238/Pu), separation research (thermal diffusion factors for noble gas mixtures, behavior of liquid-phase thermal diffusion columns for isotope separation, Ca isotope separation, total scattering cross sections for Ne--Ar, diffusion coefficients for Kr--noble gas systems), and metal hydride research (isotope effects for diffusion in V/sub 2/H and V/sub 2/T, H tunneling in Group VB metals, electronic theory of metal hydride clusters).
