Industrial process heat applications for solar-thermal technologies

An overview is presented of selected solar industrial process heat (IPH) activities under development in the US. Included are a summary of the IPH field test program, status of solar thermal technologies, and results of specific technology/application matching and market studies. There is a large potential market for solar IPH in the United States. The near-term viability of solar technologies in the industrial sector is dependent upon both the economic and technical issues which vary depending on the application, plant site, and system selected.
