Determination of the pion form factor and the axial-vector form factor of the nucleon from pion electroproduction at threshold

The contributions from the transverse and longitudinal components to the amplitude for pion electroproduction on the proton at threshold are separated. A multipole analysis of the results is carried out. The axial-vector form factor of the nucleon and the form factor of the pion are determined.
