A new fluid-meter discharge coefficient formulation in terms of boundary-layer parameters alone has been developed. Although the coefficient proved to be the most valid for plenum-inlet installations, it also accurately represents pipe installations of fluid meters. The formulation also predicts the characteristics of new fluid-meter designs, such as a cubic nozzle in a pipe installation.
