Incomplete momentum transfer in the /sup 40/Ar+/sup 58/Ni reaction

We have observed incomplete momentum transfer in binary reactions of the /sup 40/Ar+ /sup 58/Ni system at 15 MeV/nucleon with a relative intensity of 0.11 +- 0.05. The projectile spectator has a mass close to A = 8, and the inelasticity of reactions with incomplete momentum transfer is halfway between that of normal elastic and deep-inelastic reactions.
