High-precision spectroscopic studies of Lyman. cap alpha. lines of hydrogenlike iron: A measurement of the 1s Lamb shift

The absolute energies of the Lyman ..cap alpha.. lines of hydrogenlike iron have been measured with an accuracy of 90 ppm with use of a high-precision plane-crystal spectrometer calibrated directly with Co K..cap alpha.. x rays. A value for the 1s Lamb shift of hydrogenlike iron has been deduced from this measurement.
