Trace elements in coal

These volumes present information on the importance of trace elements in coal for those who are focusing their attention on developments in coal utilization technology. The nature and mode of occurrence of trace elements, variations in distributions and concentrations in coal ash are discussed. Methods of analysis are presented and the accumulated knowledge about all elements in coal is summarized. Vol. I: Examines the origin, classification and physical and chemical properties of coal. The occurrence and distribution of trace elements is discussed. Special attention is paid to rare elements and to radionuclides. Vol. II: In this volume, the environmental considerations of coal use are emphasized. Trace element contaminants from coal-fired power plants are studied and the effects of radionuclides released in the environment are critically summarized. Detailed discussions of optical, nuclear and x-ray methods of analysis are included.
