The reaction of Dy/sub 2/O/sub 3/ or Tb/sub 4/O/sub 7/ with Nd/sub 15/Fe/sub 77/B/sub 8/ powder during the sintering increases the coercivity of the sintered magnets. These oxides are reduced to metal during the sintering process, resulting in magnets with properties similar to those prepared from the Nd/sub 13.5/Dy/sub 1.5/Fe/sub 77/B/sub 8/ alloy.
