Supercurrents and angular momentum in /sup 3/He-A

Thesis/Dissertation ·
OSTI ID:6246165
This thesis is largely about computing supercurrents in /sup 3/He-A from microscopic models, and seeing how these supercurrents can help to resolve questions about the existence of an intrinsic angular momentum in /sup 3/He-A. Chapters II and III contain general discussions and results for these microscopic models. Chapter II covering the BCS wavefunction and Chapter III covering the Gor'kov formalism. Chapter IV applies these results to the A-phase of superfluid /sup 3/He. Chapter V considers supercurrents that flow in the presence of a magnetic field.
