Kinetic theory of Alfven wave heating

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6246059
The heating of tokamak plasmas by Alfven waves is studied in cylindrical geometry using linearized kinetic equations. The energy deposition and density fluctuations as functions of the plasma radius, as well as the total impedance for the experiments on the PRETEXT tokamak are computed. Optimum conditions for heating are investigated.
