The Eocene Wilcox sands of Louisiana and Mississippi have yielded over 500 million bbl of oil since the first discovery in 1938 at Little Creek, LaSalle Parish, La. Drilling in the producing area has resulted in the discovery of over 370 fields which range from 1-well fields to Tullos-Urania which has 1,170 wells. The search for new production in this area has been stimulated by the shallow producing depths (1,100 to 8,500 ft) and the numerous producing sands (approx. 40). The Wilcox sequence of the area under consideration has been described as regressive, deltaic sediments in which the principal producing sands are the destructional facies, distributary mouth bar, and delta front facies. An examination of the distribution of the Wilcox fields in E.-central Louisiana and SW. Mississippi reveals 2 NW.-SE. trending areas of production in Louisiana and one large oval-shaped area of production in Mississippi. This distribution is related to the draping of the Wilcox sequence over ntary for dried tuff stone impregnated with 23.6arilyifer or existence, ahead of the hydorfluoric acid front, of a ures which might control the distribution of uraniumacterized by a thermally activated process. he effect of various parameters, temperature, pressure, and steam percent in hydrogen feed. Fifteen experimental runs have been completed using NiMo as the main component of thThe Q/sub 2//sup +/ value obtained for /sup 200/Hg is in agreement with previous work, but that for /sup 202/Hg is not. The results obtained are compared with the predictions of various nuclear models, and the mass dependence of Q/sub 2//sup +/ in the region 182 < A < 206 is examined.
