ATRS will soon be mandated on new and existing bolters

Two states and the US Bureau of Mines are following West Virginia's lead in requiring mines to install automated temporary roof supports (ATRS) on roof bolters. This article discusses the ATRS system. The intent of the system is to save lives. The function is to support the mine roof temporarily while the equipment operators install permanent roof bolts or trusses.
