This paper discusses how {ital T{sub c}}{sup onset} of a sintered Bi{sub 2}Sr{sub 2}Ca{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub {ital x}} superconductor increased from 85 to 93 K after a shock-compaction treatment. The shock synthesis of high-{ital T{sub c}} superconductors from a mixture of metal oxides was also attempted A small amount of superconducting phase was successfully formed by shock synthesis for a Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O system. The {ital T{sub c}}{sup onset} of this material was about 75 K.
