Five and ten year programs for a geothermal research plan were developed for this study, with major emphasis on critical five-year milestones. The recommended plans were formed under the constraint of three different five-year budgets, with planning organized on the basis of six resource sub-programs (hot water, warm water, hot dry rock resource, brine, geopressured resources, and dry steam) and five generic sub-programs (exploration, assessment, drilling, environmental-social, and institutional studies).
