An anti-overrunning device for an internal combustion engine is described comprising a vibrating pump for generating pneumatic pressure by vibrations of the engine, an actuator for actuating a throttle valve of a carburetor in a direction of closing the valve, and a control valve for controlling a flow of the pneumatic pressure from the vibrating pump to the actuator during overrunning of the engine. The control valve is actuated by virtue of the electromotive force of a generator driven by the engine.
