Since 1985, six laboratories have provided data on trace contaminant elements in environmental samples to the NOAA National Status and Trends Program. The report presents and summarizes the results obtained from 1985 to 1990 by these laboratories for the Quality Assurance intercomparison exercises. In particular, it demonstrates the fact that consistent participation in the annual exercises has greatly improved the performance of the participants over the years and that all of the laboratories contributing data to the NS T Program are generally furnishing data of good quality.
