Invariant inclusive cross sections for cumulative. pi. /sup -/-meson production in. pi. /sup -/ /sup 12/C interactions at p/sub pi-/ = 40 GeV/c as functions of the pion cumulative number and transverse momentum, and cross sections for production of cumulative jets

Data on the behavior of the invariant inclusive cross sections for cumulative ..pi../sup -/-meson production in ..pi../sup -12/C interactions at p/sub pi-/ = 40 GeV/c are presented. The dependences on the cumulative number of these cross sections and the cumulative jet-production cross sections are virtually the same. The dependences of these cross sections on the squared transverse momentum are found to change sharply near the boundary of the cumulative region. The experimental results were obtained using the two-meter propane chamber of the High Energy Laboratory, JINR.
