Three-nucleon forces and the triton binding energy

Expectation values of the Tucson-Melbourne family of 2..pi.., rho..pi.., and 2rho exchange three-body forces and the Lisbon three-body force are obtained with two models of the triton. The triton wave functions used are solutions of the Faddeev equations with s-wave potentials. These coordinate space studies examine the effect of short-range pair correlations on the binding energy contribution of the three-body forces. The contribution of the 2..pi.. three-body forces is attractive, the rho..pi.. three-body forces repulsive and much smaller, and the 2rho three-body forces negligible in these triton models.
