Unique extractive stack sampling system for continuous emission monitoring
The increased complexity of monitoring applications for continuous monitoring of stationary sources has left a technological void between the state-of-the-art of sampling interfaces and the available analytical instrumentation. An evaluation of current sampling interface methods and hardware resulted in a development plan to design a reliable sampling interface with the zero preventative maintenance concept as an integral part of the plan. This plan resulted in the development of a Blowback-Particle Concentrator probe and conditioning assembly. This unique system minimizes losses of gas phase species of interest by employing a field proven, dual, in-stack filtration system in combination with a permeation distillation dryer and acid mists removal system. This new extractive sampling system can interface existing analyzers to applications such as monitoring downstream of flue gas desulfurization systems and total reduced sulfur monitoring on Kraft pulp mills.
