Cooling system for automotive engine or the like

This patent describes an internal combustion engine having a structure subject to high heat flux. A cooling system comprises: a cooling circuit which includes: a coolant jacket disposed about the structure. The coolant jacket is arranged to receive coolant in liquid form and discharge same in gaseous form; a radiator in fluid communication with the coolant jacket for receiving the coolant vapor produced in the coolant jacket and condensing same to a condensate; and means for returning the condensate formed in the radiator to the coolant jacket in a manner which maintains the structure immersed in predetermined depth of liquid coolant.
