Swelling of austenitic Fe-Ni-Cr ternary alloys during fast neutron irradiation

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6231930

The post-transient swelling rate of neutron-irradiated Fe-Ni-Cr ternary austenitic alloys is approx. 1%/dpa over a remarkably wide range of temperature. The compositional dependence of the swelling of these alloys resides primarily in the duration of the transient regime. Although very large levels of swelling can be reached, there is some indication that saturation of swelling can occur at relatively low irradiation temperatures. The level of saturation is also dependent on alloy composition.
