Design and installation of comminution circuits

Book ·
OSTI ID:6229159
This paper reviews North American comminution circuit design and installation technology. The structure incorporates circuit selection factors, regulations which influence selection, capital and operating cost estimations, ore body sampling, measurement of size distributions, typical crushing/grinding flowsheets, mass balances, laboratory and pilot plant testing, circuit simulation, and test work for equipment sizing and selection. Methodology is provided to select and size every major item of comminution equipment and its corresponding material handling units. Included are: crushers, rod, ball and pebble mills, autogenous, and semiautogenous mills, screens, samplers, conveyors, feeders, bins, pump boxes, reclaim stockpiles, dust collectors, electrical distributors and drives, cyclones, gravity classifiers and pumps. Coverage is allocated to equipment specifications, to circuit layout, to installation features from several viewpoints, to project engineering and to instrumentation and control. Finally, training and start up receive attention with case studies toward the end.
