Microdetermination of aliphatic amines and polyamines with cupric ion: relationship between pK/sub 1/ and half-complexation potential

Journal Article · · Microchem. J.; (United States)
In previous publications (3, 8, 9) we have reported the potentiometric microdetermiation of aliphatic amines and polyamines with cupric nitrate. Electromotive forces were monitored with a copper ion-selective electrode (ISE) and a single-junction reference electrode. In this paper we relate the first equilibrium constant, K/sub 1/, for the combination of ligand with cupric ion to be half-complexation potential, E/sub HC/, and discuss the limitations of our method. Some additional data are also presented.
