Study of rho/sup 0/- and. omega. -meson inclusive production by 43-GeV/c. pi. /sup -/ mesons on beryllium nuclei

The differential cross sections for inclusive production of rho/sup 0/ and ..omega.. mesons in 43-GeV/c ..pi../sup -/N interactions are measured in the region x>0.6. It is found that the p/sup 2//sub t/ distribution of the rho/sup 0//..omega.. mesons deviates from the usual proportionality to exp(-3.4p/sup 2//sub t/) at small p/sup 2//sub t/ values; this deviation is attributed to the presence of an additional rho/sup 0/-meson-production source.
