This article reports on an investigation of liquid entrainment from trays in a circular stand with a diameter of 1200 mm. The relative entrainment of liquid as a function of the gas velocity for various liquid loads and tray spacings is determined. Each tray had three rows of baffles with a height of 180 mm mounted at an angle of 60/sup 0/ to the tray deck. It is established that the hydraulic resistance of the trays is not changed when the tray spacing is increased from 400 to 600 mm, within the range of liquid loads investigated. The results of the tray tests indicate the desirability of using the trays in commercial atmospheric towers with a height of 450-500 mm.
