Convenient method for the production of compounds of the brexane, brendane, and noradamantane series

Preparative methods are proposed for the production of 5-brexanone and the acetates of 2-brendanol and 2-noradamantanol from cis-bicyclo(4.3.0(nona-3,7-diene. Dehydration of 5-brexanol and 2-brendanol gave 4-brexene and deltacyclane respectively. The /sup 13/C NMR spectra of the compounds of the noradamantane, brexane, brendane, and deltacyclane series were studied.
