Title: Differential population synthesis of SO galaxies. I. The data

Spectrophotometric observations of elliptical galaxy nuclei, SO nuclei, and SO disks obtained with an intensified image dissector scanner (IIDS) are presented. The 12 normal ellipticals observed spanned 7 mag in luminosity and included a wide range of line strengths in early-type systems. The SO disk spectra are of discrete disk locations and are not disk-plus-bulge integrated light spectra. The spectrophotometry and supplementary broad-band photometry are described and the effect of the nonlinearity of the IIDS on the flux calibrations is considered. The results of a principal component analysis of the normal ellipticals show that the sample is a one parameter family in line strength and color. 27 references.
