A method is described for the recovery of oil from a subterranean, oil-bearing reservoir penetrated by an injection well and a production well extending from the surface of the earth into the reservoir, which method comprises: (i) injecting into the reservoir through the injection well, a mixture of a multiple contact miscible solvent for the oil and a solubility improving additive in an amount sufficient to lower the minimum miscibility pressure to a value no higher than the reservoir pressure. This attains multiple contact miscibility as solvent begins to penetrate reservoir; (ii) producing fluids including oil from the production well; and (iii) continuing to inject the mixture of solvent and solubility additive into the reservoir with a reduced proportion of the additive in the mixture relative to the initially injected mixture.
